Yuletide 2019

Dear Yuletide Writer,
I'm so glad that we share a small fandom, and I can't wait to see what you decide to write! All of the prompts in this letter are just suggestions intended to hopefully provide some inspiration if you want it. They are entirely optional, and you can ignore all of them in favor of writing something else if you have some other idea that you want to write about these fandoms/characters. I hope you have fun writing and have a merry bear-less Yuletide!
AO3 Name: DesertScribe
Do Not Wants: incest (mentions of Jack/Diane for Blood Drive or Dmitri/Antanasia for Van Helsing are fine, but I don't want it to be a major focus of the work), rape/non-con, scat/watersports, graphic underage sex, omegaverse, modern/mundane AUs, spanking, cancer
Fandom Specific Do Not Wants:
Blood Drive: Slink having genitalia
Van Helsing: killing Sarah or Jolene, major harm to Callie, curing Ivory or Scab of vampirism

My Requests:
Characters:
Person Whom the Narrator Is Talking To (Yawning Grave)
The Narrator (Yawning Grave)
Do Not Want: incest, rape/non-con, scat/watersports, graphic underage sex, omegaverse, unrequested modern/mundane AUs, spanking, cancer
There are no fandom specific Do Not Wants for this fandom.
What I Do Want:
I have wanted fic about this song ever since I first heard it years ago, because its sense of reluctant/resigned menace, as if the narrator is going, "Damn it, I never wanted to have to do this to you, but I can't not do it," just raises so many questions!
Who and/or what exactly is the narrator and what is their relationship to the "you" character? Demon ("Darkness brings evil things")? Nature spirit ("I write the names of the rocks and the trees")? Adopted supernatural parent ("I tried to warn you when you were a child")? Something else entirely? What did "you" do to bring down the narrator's wrath? Was it really just getting lost in the wild which got the "you" character in all this trouble, or was it something more complicated than that? Is the line "You will open the yawning grave referring to what the "you" character's punishment will be, or is it the crime that they committed? The narrator seems to care about "you" but is apparently going to kill them anyway. Why? Alternatively, is the narrator possibly not the one bringing down wrath upon "you" and instead the line of "Oh, you fool, there are rules I am coming for you" is about the narrator trying to get to "you" in time to save them from their bad decisions but not really expecting to succeed? Is the narrator specifically protective of the "you" character, or do they try to warn away everybody from doing whatever it is that caused this trouble? Is there anything the "you" character can do to save themself? Might the narrator have a last minute change of heart or will it go through with whatever it is that they feel they need to do? How much will either party regret their actions? Has something like this happened before?
Feel free to make both the narrator and the "you" character whatever gender you want, and also feel free to go as light and fluffy or as dark and twisted as you want. Happy endings, bad endings, and anything in between are all great.
Characters:
Grace d'Argento
Julian Slink
Do Not Want: incest, rape/non-con, scat/watersports, graphic underage sex, omegaverse, unrequested modern/mundane AUs, spanking, cancer
Fandom Specific Do Not Wants: Slink having genitalia
What I Do Want:
This is one of my "I love everyone in this bar!" fandoms, so feel free to include whatever other major or minor canon characters you want to fill supporting roles, whether they're in the tag set or not, because they're all entertaining, or make up OCs.
Did Grace and Slink interact at all in the year between Grace agreeing to race and when the main show takes place? Were there qualifying races Grace had to drive in before the main event? Did Slink just show up to annoy her from time to time to make sure his "hand-picked battle bitch" would be ready to put on a good show when the time came? I would also love to see missing scenes from any point in canon, maybe the rest of their "twenty questions for twenty punches" game or Grace (and Arthur if you so choose) having to put up with Slink as a road trip companion. Or insert an extra leg of the race where Grace and Slink have to team up against another threat which, as usual, turns out to be all Slink's and/or Heart's fault. Or maybe this time the monster is Grace's fault somehow. I'd also love to see something post-canon where they both somehow survive, because of course they would have if the show had gotten a second season. If they met up again after destroying Heart Tower, how would their goals have shifted? Would they try even harder to kill each other because they don't have any reason to hold back anymore, or would they have enough built up grudging respect for each other to team up again to go rescue Arthur, or would their reactions be something else entirely?
Characters:
Doc | Sarah Carol
Do Not Want: incest, rape/non-con, scat/watersports, graphic underage sex, omegaverse, unrequested modern/mundane AUs, spanking, cancer
Fandom Specific Do Not Wants: killing Sarah or Jolene, major harm to Callie, curing Ivory or Scab of vampirism
What I Do Want:
I love everything about Sarah and how over the course of the show we've seen her character grow and change from a screaming coward to someone trying to make amends for her bad decisions while learning to form personal connections with people and discover her inner strength, inner strength which she then uses to plot and carry out the murder the woman who arranged to have her girlfriend taken hostage. I especially love her romance with Jolene (and I love how the show doesn't treat Sarah's confused emotional reactions as gay panic due never loving a woman before but, rather, as generalized panic due to never loving anyone before. Also, if the show doesn't let those two reunite with each other soon, I might need to flip a table) and her friendship with Julius, but I'll be happy with pretty much any story about Sarah at any point since the Rising started. Tell me about Sarah being stuck living with a team of marines in the hospital for two and a half years before she got turned into a vampire. Or, tell me about how she found her way to Triage and first met Jolene. Or, give me a missing scene from Sarah and Vampire!Axel's awkward walking road trip to find Vanessa. Or, what happened with that bullet wound Sarah got in her shoulder which the show seemed to forget all about as soon as that scene was over? Or, show me what Sarah and the group did while they were stuck in quarantine, waiting to be allowed into Denver (like, Sarah wants to get closer to Jolene and doesn't know how to handle those feelings yet, but Phil's a mental wreck, and everything Julius knows about PTSD probably came from seeing how World War One veterans were treated, and there's little or no privacy while they're all stuck in close proximity to each other along with Callie and all the surviving Crooked Falls people)? Or, there was a sign advertising Karaoke Night in Frankie's Bar; could Sarah and Jolene maybe get the chance to have a fluffy Karaoke date night before everything starts going wrong in Denver? Or, you could compare/contrast a time Sarah provided hurt/comfort to any character versus a time they provided h/c to her. Or, I would love to see something about Sarah and her research into vampirism, especially if you worked in some worldbuilding. Or, what would Sarah do if her sister Grace turns up still alive and working with BlakTek? If you happened to be interested in writing a canon divergent AU, I would love to see a story about what might have happened if Sarah and Julius didn't get to Wanda before Lucky, Phil, and Mohamad did. Or, give me whatever else you want to write about Sarah and her journey through the vampire apocalypse!
I would also love to see anything about Sarah and the events of season four, but that is more difficult to leave prompts for since at the time I'm writing this the season is only half over and the status quo gets shaken up on such a regular basis. If anything about Sarah in season four inspires a story idea in you between now and the deadline, go with it.
Feel free to include whatever other major or minor canon characters you want to fill supporting roles, whether they're in the tag set or not, or make up OCs as needed.
