Dear M/M Rares Author,
Thank you so much for signing up to write for one of my fandoms! First of all, I want you to have fun with this, not stress over writing for me. Everything in this letter is only here to try to help provide inspiration for you if you need it. If you already had an idea you really wanted to write when you signed up for whichever pairing we matched on, then please feel free to go ahead and write that and ignore the rest of this letter. Otherwise, keep reading for some likes/dislikes and random prompts which will hopefully get the creative juices flowing. I wrote more about some of the fandoms than others, but that just means I had a harder time thinking of prompts for some of them, not that I want certain ones more or less than the others.

Wynn Duffy/Mike - I would love to see a slightly canon divergent AU for the end of the series in which Mike somehow survives (either because the wounds were bad but not fatal or because he didn't get shot at all) the confrontation with Katherine Hale and he and Wynn have to deal with putting their relationship back together, with Mike trying to make amends for the betrayal and Wynn trying to address the points Mike brought up about the ways their relationship was unequal. Running off to surf in Fiji together would be appreciated but is not required. If you would rather focus on what happened before or during canon, then maybe you could tell me how they met? Which came first, their professional or their personal relationship? Did they go shopping for the RV together, or did Wynn already have it? What kind of trouble/adventures were they involved in before their employers sent them to Harlan? What unshown lengths did they have to go to while dealing with Quarles? During their time in Harlan, did they ever just sit around, drinking and complaining about how much Raylan (or anyone else for that matter) always messed things up for them?

How did they end up basically taking over Sutter's Creek? What sort of criminal antics did they get up to before or during their association with John Bly? What was their favorite robbery together? What was the worst and whose fault was it? Were there ever wild nights spent making out on top of giant piles of stolen money? Heck, you could even write the career-criminal equivalent of curtain fic if you wanted. Or maybe show me their secret during-canon adventures, because it was never established one way or the other whether Pete knew Big survived the fall from the train. How would early-season Pete have handled the new and improved Big Smith, and how would Big Smith have changed in his dealings with Pete? Would Big try to make Pete try to change his villainous ways or would Big leave him alone in that respect because his orb-powers told him Pete would eventually end up changing on his own? Did Big use the orb to heal Pete from being gut-shot but got a little carried away and that's the reason for Pete's continuous miraculous survival? Anything!
Lord Bowler/Socrates Poole - These two are an interesting study in contrasts, and I would love to see anything featuring them together as a couple. Maybe they need to travel alone together again like in Stagecoach? Bowler said he couldn't teach Socrates how to be a good tracker, but is there anything he *could* teach him how to do? Could Socrates teach Bowler anything? Maybe, having grown up poor, Socrates is secretly really good at cheap DIY home repair and can help Bowler with one of his various remodeling projects? Or maybe Bowler and Socrates need to publically pretend to be together for some reason (and feel free to handwave the whole "that was illegal back then" issue if you don't want to deal with it) and decide they like it enough to try to make it work for real? Or Socrates takes Bowler out shopping for fancy crystal as penance for breaking his previous collection and it turns into a stealth date? Or maybe for once there's a more amicable solution to the old "hotel doesn't have enough beds for everyone" problem which came up in canon from time to time?
Pete Hutter/Aaron Viva - I love how these two bring out the silliness in each other (as demonstrated by the dueling air banjos) and would love to see anything more about them, whether it's missing scenes from the last two episodes (maybe a look at what went into the planning and execution of the scheme to save Brisco and Bowler from the firing squad?) or post-canon adventures. Does Pete manage to stay on the right side of the law, or does he go back to his old criminal ways and maybe convince Aaron to join him? And if Pete does stick to the straight and narrow, does he settle for being "just another poor cowboy" like he once complained about, or does he somehow find a way to earn an honest living using his talent for all things involving giant rocks? Do Pete and Aaron end up posing as backup singers in Dixie's show as part of a sting operation to catch the latest batch of bad guys? To they talk Prof. Wickwire into inventing the microphone and/or electric guitar? Or maybe there's some h/c after whatever Pete's latest injury happens to be? For these two I would be totally up for some erotic touching of Pete's Piece and other minor gun-kink if you wanted to go there, but it is not in any way required.
Brisco County Sr./Lee Pow - I always had the feeling that there was a lot more history between Brisco Sr. and Lee Pow than Lee Pow was going to even mention unless circumstances (like the whole stolen baby/Black Lotus thing) arose which made sharing some of that information absolutely necessary, so maybe some of that secret history involved a love affair? I would love to see anything about these two set at any point after Brisco Sr.'s wife died. Did they just get together and quietly hang out and drink tea whenever Brisco Sr.'s job took him to San Francisco? Did they go off on other adventures together after helping Lee Pow escape the Black Lotus? Did Lee Pow ever join a posse to help Brisco Sr. catch bad guys? When and how did they both end up connected to the destiny of the orb, and how did they feel about that?

Optional Details:
Richelieu/Treville - I really love the long shared history between these two and how, even when they are at odds, each seems to understand the other better than anyone else. Does one trying to seduce the other into going along with some plan for the good of France ever turn into plain old seduction of the romantic kind? Do they get competetive about sex the same way they get competetive about trying to push France and the the king in what they consider to be the right direction? Do they ever have a nice quiet dinner alone, share a couple of bottles of wine, spend the whole night talking, maybe make out a little bit, and then the next day tell their subbordinates that they spent the whole time yelling at each other? I would love to see something set post-canon where it's revealed that Richelieu faked his death for whatever reason and had now returned to pick up where he left off, but if you aren't into that then anything set before or during canon would be cool too. Bonus points for schemes and counter-schemes.

Ash and John are both magnets for supernatural trouble who are always ready with a smart remark and manage to win in the end while all their friends and loved ones get possessed, eaten, torn apart, or otherwise end up as colateral damage, so what would happen if they became each other's loved one? Would they form an unstoppable ass-kicking team, or would the whole universe suffer a blue screen of death and need to reboot? Add in contrasting styles, with John preferring to fight magic with magic while Ash can never get the words right, instead relying on melee weapons and science, and there is an extra chance for things to go wrong while they try to make their relationship work. How do they keep from accidentally killing each other? What kind of war stories do they tell each other when they get drunk? What do the people around them think about their relationship? With two such snarky people, do the demons ever get a chance to get a word in edgewise? Tell me anything.
Benton Fraser (Due South)/The Middleman (Middleman) - It's the "super competent and polite with a hidden dry sense of humor" pairing! In a lot of ways, these two are basically alternate nationality analogs of each other, and whether you want to turn that into a major plot point or just have it be something Wendy comments on when she interrupts their date and drags them off to fight the villain and/or monster of the week together, it's all good. Give me anything with these two, whether it's the two of them running into each other in their younger days and then again in more modern times, or a look at how they've both creates a public persona to hide what's going on under the surface, or Frasier helping the Middleman on O2STK business, or the Middleman helping Frasier on Mountie business, or Wendy and Diefenbaker teaming up to play matchmaker for the guys only to find out they've already been secretly dating for ages, or a weekend getaway in a Canadian shack, or a night out listening to live country music in dive bar accidentally turning into a weekend getaway in an alternate dimension, or whatever else strikes your fancy.
Lord Bowler (Adventures of Brisco County Jr.)/Benton Fraser (Due South) - Okay, this one was a crack!ship I nominated on the spur of the moment mostly based on both men having amazingly good tracking skills and how Bowler being used to seeing his BFF arguing with his horse like an old married couple would mean that he probably wouldn't even raise an eyebrow at the interspecies-platonic-lifemates relationship Fraser has with Diefenbaker, so pick a direction you want to take things and just run with it. Do they end up tracking a bad guy through the wilderness together or just hang out being all quietly domestic during a moment of downtime? Do they swap Inuit and Cherokee stories in between sessions of marathon sex to stay warm during a blizard? Or maybe there's some kind of weird AU fusion of the canons where Bowler and Fraser end up partnered together instead of with their respective canon counterparts and it somehow leads to a romantic relationship? Feel free to handle the mismatched canon eras however you want. Handwaved inexplicable time travel? Plot relevant and specifically explained time travel? Modern AU Bowler? Late 19th century AU Fraser? Something else entirely?
Russ Agnew (Battle Creek)/Mayhem (Allstate Insurance) - With the number of injuries Russ sustained over the course of the show, Russ/Mayhem seemed like it was practically canon in a metaphorical sense, so why not make it literal? I'm kind of short on prompts for this one aside from flailing and shouting, "Make it happen!" Give me anything with Russ being grumpy but with a heart of gold (or at least tarnished silver) hidden under his protective shell of misanthropy while Mayhem is gleefully destructive with no regard for his own safety. Is suggesting h/c too broad/obvious? Comedy of Errors style mistaken identity shenanigans, only with more crashed cars, exploding coffeemakers, termite-weakened support beams, and whatever else? Or you could just focus on everyone else's baffled reactions when they find out Russ is apparently sleeping with the god of random property damage who looks suspiciously like he could be Russ's twin brother.

Optional Details:
John Constantine/Papa Midnite - I really loved the episode where these two teamed up to try to put those ghosts back to rest and how, even though thier magic styles clashed so much that they both basically spent the whole time yelling that the other one was doing it wrong, they looked damn hot in the process and then got together for that one last drink before calling off the truce. Maybe they keep running into situations like that and eventually just fall into a relationship? Larry Daley/McPhee - I would love to see something with these two getting together post-NatM3, now that McPhee has been let in on the secret of what the tablet does. Give me anything with these two, whether it's the two of them running into each other in their younger days and then again in more modern times, or a look at how they've both creates a public persona to hide what's going on under the surface, or Frasier helping the Middleman on O2STK business, or the Middleman helping Frasier on Mountie business, or Wendy and Diefenbaker teaming up to play matchmaker for the guys only to find out they've already been secretly dating for ages, or a weekend getaway in a Canadian shack, or a night out listening to live country music in dive bar accidentally turning into a weekend getaway in an alternate dimension, or whatever else strikes your fancy.
Lord Bowler (Adventures of Brisco County Jr.)/Benton Fraser (Due South) - Okay, this one was a crack!ship I nominated on the spur of the moment mostly based on both men having amazingly good tracking skills and how Bowler being used to seeing his BFF arguing with his horse like an old married couple would mean that he probably wouldn't even raise an eyebrow at the interspecies-platonic-lifemates relationship Fraser has with Diefenbaker, so pick a direction you want to take things and just run with it. Do they end up tracking a bad guy through the wilderness together or just hang out being all quietly domestic during a moment of downtime? Do they swap Inuit and Cherokee stories in between sessions of marathon sex to stay warm during a blizard? Or maybe there's some kind of weird AU fusion of the canons where Bowler and Fraser end up partnered together instead of with their respective canon counterparts and it somehow leads to a romantic relationship? Feel free to handle the mismatched canon eras however you want. Handwaved inexplicable time travel? Plot relevant and specifically explained time travel? Modern AU Bowler? Late 19th century AU Fraser? Something else entirely?
Russ Agnew (Battle Creek)/Mayhem (Allstate Insurance) - With the number of injuries Russ sustained over the course of the show, Russ/Mayhem seemed like it was practically canon in a metaphorical sense, so why not make it literal? I'm kind of short on prompts for this one aside from flailing and shouting, "Make it happen!" Give me anything with Russ being grumpy but with a heart of gold (or at least tarnished silver) hidden under his protective shell of misanthropy while Mayhem is gleefully destructive with no regard for his own safety. Is suggesting h/c too broad/obvious? Comedy of Errors style mistaken identity shenanigans, only with more crashed cars, exploding coffeemakers, termite-weakened support beams, and whatever else? Or you could just focus on everyone else's baffled reactions when they find out Russ is apparently sleeping with the god of random property damage who looks suspiciously like he could be Russ's twin brother.

John Constantine/Papa Midnite - I really loved the episode where these two teamed up to try to put those ghosts back to rest and how, even though thier magic styles clashed so much that they both basically spent the whole time yelling that the other one was doing it wrong, they looked damn hot in the process and then got together for that one last drink before calling off the truce. Maybe they keep running into situations like that and eventually just fall into a relationship? Or maybe one of them needs to perform some sex magic and realizes that the other one is the only one who is powerful/knowledgable/whatever enough of a partner to produce the desired magical effect? Or maybe Manny starts metaphorically pushing them together and going, "Now kiss!" for mysterious reasons of his own? Or maybe they wake up to discover they got drunk!married in Vegas but the last thing either of them remembers is being in the middle of doing important magic stuff and if they don't figure out what happened then somebody might die? Give me anything. I'm only familiar with the TV show, not the comics, so if you are a fan of both then you can feel free to throw in whatever comics-based references and/or spoilers that you want, but you should be aware that I probably won't recognize them.
